sept 11,2001 i work for a very large e-commerce financial solutions company where i visit clients throughout the five boroughs and long island. that particular morning i needed to start my day downtown on nassau street. my plans were to take the subway down to chambers street early, call a friend at the financial center to meet for coffee then go a few blocks over to nassau street to check on my client. i woke up late that day, caught a late train, witnessed the whole thing from the lirr. found out my friend was in hawaii on her honeymoon. a dozen more friends barely got out alive, another friend who grew up next door and who i knew all my life was one of the first firefighters to arrive, he died. the person who grew up across the street, his uncle died. another half dozen people i know had people close to them die. waking up late isn't always a bad thing!! i feel more and more lucky every single day. where were you!?god bless and treat all people with respect. love one another! peace, hormony, and tranquility for all living creatures! |
