i remember it like it was yesterday. i was in the 9th grade (i'm now a senior) and we were in an assembly in our school's auditorium. an announcment interupted our guest speaker and said, "teachers, please turn your tvs on. something has happened that you may want your students to watch." the guest speaker's response was, "i'm sure it's nothing," and he went on with what he was talking about. when i got back to class, everyone was gathered around the tv. the classroom was in aw at what they saw. i looked up, and saw the first smoking building. "what happened?" "a plane crashed into the wtc." just then, we saw the second plane come in, live on tv. it was unbelievable. my entire school day was spent watching tv. it was my first year in high school and i was in jrotc, a program which promotes patriotism and citizenship. that event alone was enough to make me more then a patriot.
