 i changed on 9/11

how can i put in words what i felt the day the wtc fell. as a native new yorker i saw those two wonderful buildings being built. when they where finished my parents took me and my sister into the city and we went to the top of the world that day. an awesome experience viewing manhattan up in the sky while clouds past along side us. i swear those buildings moved and swayed!!

on 09-11-01 i turned on the tv once i heard an accident had occured; a plane crashed into the wtc! i could not believe my eyes when i saw a second plane hit the other tower a few moments after i turned on the tv. at first i thought it was a repeat of the crash? but, soon it hit me that both buildings where on fire! at that moment peter jennings said something along the lines of "it seems this is a terriost act". i was speechless, then that turned into tears and then i began to sob. the sadness i felt for the lost lives and families who would grieve them flowed into me and humbled me. i also felt a great deal of fear...we were under attack it seemed that every few minutes a new crash, a building fell, another plane crash, the pentagon, another tower feel and so on and so on. i worried for all my friends in nyc but i could not get a line out to anyone... i could only pray.

i changed that day. i haven't recovered since.

i have been to new york twice since and its still breaks my heart to look at the city and see the empty space of the sky line. its not the new york i know.

well, i guess it will never be the new york i knew. it changed too as i did.
