i was on the road, driving a truck, when a call came over the cb that "they got the world trade center again". that's all that was said. there was no mention of it on any of the news radio staions yet, but shortly after that call i finally heard it mentioned on the howard stern radio program. as i recall, bababooey came in and said something about a plane hitting the world trade center. it was dismissed and they went back to talking about howard kissing pamela anderson. it was about this point that all of the other radio stations started picking up on it.
in my opinion, howard stern, like him or not, had the absolute best coverage of the whole morning.
i just found it odd that the news of that day had passed from new york city to cleveland ohio, via cb radio faster than it did on the news networks. i guess that thing was good for something after all!
thank a fireman for me, especially those from fdny rescue 1 and rescue 3. and never forget.
