the media lesson we will never forget

my friends and i were in a media lesson when the two planes attacked the world trade centre, deconstructing the news to gain a better understanding of how the world in which we live. my form tutor came in and said that someone had 'crashed' into the wtc and we didn't believe her, it wasn't until driving home and listening to bbc radio 4 that i realised the enormity of the situation. all around me no one spoke, every car was silent and the only thing i can think of was to get home to the tv, find out for myself what happened. when i got home my mother knew nothing of the event and myself and my father switched between the us and english news channel trying to fathom and understand what had happened...it was a discraceful act, and the next day in school all that was discussed was the nature of the tragedy and the reasoning behind it. the story of the toweers, pentagon and flight 93 then became my personal study and still now in university it is my main focus of study and it is a day that my generation will never forget...rest in peace
