i was 25 years old and had finally moved away from my hometown. i was out on my own but still missing home. when 9/11 happened i was at work at a casey's general store in iowa. my manager and i were the only ones in the store when a friend of ours called the store with the news since we had no radio or tv in the store we had no way of knowing what was next or what else had happened. the first thing i did when i got off from work was called back home to talk to my mother. i told her i loved her and that i was praying for her and the rest of the family. not many of my family memebers believe in god.... but i do. my mother asked, "jennifer, are you scared?" i wasn't going to lie... i said, "mom, i am scared because i don't know if we are at the very end of existance or what. i am scared of being away from home at a time like this and i am afraid for your eternity." my mom not liking religious conversation just simply asked me to keep praying. i like to think that 9/11 brought america's family and nation closer together as a family, it did mine.
you can try to take god out of america...but you'll never take god out of me!!!
