 sad day for us all

i had just finished dressing out for gym class when about 8:57 principal came on the intercom. "students, something weird is going on in new york. there is already some suspicion to a terrorist attack, but don't worry because we are not a strategic target. please remain calm." she was wrong about us not being a target, as we have the redstone arsenal. all we did in class was watch the news. slowly, we began to realize what had happened. this had been a deliberate attack on our country. you must know, however, that bin laden had only meant to destroy the top of the wtc so he could leave his mark. he left a bigger mark than intended. i got home from school and everybody online was talking about it. "wasn't it awful? wasn't it horrible? how sad!" they all said to me. of course it was. it was the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history. i turned on the tv to hear that the second building had collapsed. my mom was out and my dad was at work, so i called my mom and told her the news. "oh my gosh!" she said. i told everyone about it. i watched people helplessly having nowhere to go, so they jumped out of windows. i guess it was a quicker death than to burn in a fire. watching the news was so depressing, so i went outside. my friends met me outside and that is all they talked about, so i went inside. all i wanted was to escape from the sorrow and sadness. i listened to the news that night and fell asleep. the next morning i woke up to wzyp. the radio show was on and they started a song called "angels in heaven." maybe you know it? it was starting when my mom came in and listened to it with me. we both cried very much because of the lives that were lost. soon, everything began to go back to normal, except that americans were much more patriotic. still, everybody said, "where was god when all that happened?" i believer that he was right there, comforting his children right before he welcomed them into heaven.
