the day that will forever be a part of me

i remember as if it were yesterday. at the time i was working for a law firm on park avenue. my hours were from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. i remember taking the express bus into manhattan that morning and starting the day like any other. i decided to get the bus a little earlier that day. the bus picked me up at 8:30. there was some traffic on queens boulevard going towards the long island expressway. when all of a sudden, stand still traffic. nobody on the bus could figure out what was going on. then the most incredible black smoke from the nyc skyline. someone on the bus had a walkman and heard that a plane had just struck one of the towers of wtc. we then heard a few moments later that a second plane had hit the other tower. then, we heard that a plane crashed into the pentagon. well we finally got to the lie and could not believe the site of those two buildings on fire and smoking. when all of a sudden we saw the first tower fall, then later on the second. it was like a scene from a science fiction movie. like the world was coming to an end. we all started crying and hugging each other. i couldn't get a hold of my boyfriend, my parents, my friends, all cell phone communications were shut down. it was horrible. i personally did not lose a loved one at the wtc, but i pray every day for those lost. god bless america.
