 the morning of 9-11

i was in my dorm room at the rochester institute of technology in rochester, ny, getting ready for class. i looked at the clock and just kept on staring at it for a few minutes for no reason! i didn't even turn the tv on like i always did every morning. i hurried to class and waited for the teacher to arrive. when she got in class, she looked very sad and said, "i don't know if you've heard, but planes hit the world trade center and the pentagon." i thought oh please... that's impossible! the pentagon? the wtc i could understand, but the pentagon?? we were led to another room with a big screen tv to view the disaster scene. when i saw the flaming towers with smoke guzzling out of them, i thought... it really did happen. then replays of the planes hitting the towers were shown. i thought, oh my god! my uncle's family lives about 20 minutes away from nyc/wtc. class was dismissed and i immediately went to my room and called my family in arkansas to let them know that i was ok (although rochester is about 5-7 hours away from nyc). i spent the whole day watching tv and just praying for the families of victims and for better things to happen. i have been to the wtc towers so many times ever since i was a small child. i just can't believe that they are gone. i have not been to ground zero yet, but my dad was there recently and said it has become a tourist attraction. september 11, 2001 will never be forgotten and will always remain in our hearts. that image of the wtc on fire with smoke billowing out in the sky around nyc is imprinted forever in my memory. i do not doubt that god was letting me know, at the exact moment the first plane hit, that something was terribly wrong.
