i was born and raised on long island and lived in ny until last year.i did not find out about the attacks until a few hours later because i did not have on the television. when i saw what had happened i could not believe it. it was surreal. at first i thought that they were military planes. then i phoned my sister in law on long island and she told me they were our own commercial jets. i was concerned for my brother who works only a few blocks away in the city. he was okay but it was still very scary. it was not only an attack on america but an attack on a place that i hold very dear in my heart. then when i heard about the pentagon i was really scared because i wondered if our whole country was under attack. it was frightening to know my family and friends were all in ny and there was nothing i could do about it because i was so far away in florida. the scariest part is that up until last year my husband worked right across the street in the merrill lynch building and if not for a transfer to florida he would have been right in the middle of everything. i feel very sad for all those lost. every time i think i have seen or heard all there is to see another story emerges. one thing is for sure i know the images will always be in my mind . i still cannot believe this has happened. i have pictures of myself my husband and my daughter in the world trade center about 6 years ago and i think about being there. its a scary thought. i hope they will one day build a memorial so people can go there with there thoughts and just have aplace to be with others to share their feelings. i hope to return to ny soon to see the sight and i know that ny and all its heros will always be in my heart. thanks for letting me share.
