i remember......

9:20 am, 5 minutes before the bell was to ring for the ending of my first period, chemistry class. my principal of my high school (st.thomas aquinas in fort lauderdale) and announced to us all that "two planes had crashed into the twin towers" and then led us in a hail mary. the classes that followed had tvs on watching every last news report we could. we watched as the pentagon was attacked and as the plane crashed in pennsylvania. i believe it was the only day people were arriving early to class to watch the news. i remember skipping my lunch that day and sneaking into my contemporary politics classroom to watch. as we watched the coverage on tv, the only feelings i could feel were 1)being completly scared as to what was going to happen next and 2) what could i possibly do to help. i'm so happy i was in a catholic school, because from the time we found out about the attacks until 2:30 when the last bell of the day rang, we prayed. we prayed in every class two and three times. last weekend i finally got a chance to visit new york city.....my heart goes out to everyone. we will always remember......and we will come out of all of this stronger than ever!
