 How 9-11-01 affects me...

i was at school on september 11th, 2001. the time was around 8:50 a.m. i had just gotten out of my first english class (in college). i had received a b+ on my paper and i was very excited, so i called my mom and tried to tell her. for some reason she seemed to be disctracted by something on the television; numerous times i tried to get her attention, but alas i failed. i asked her what she was doing and she said an airplane had hit the world trade center tower. i thought well, maybe it was an accident or just an isolated event. i walked into my campus center to get a drink and saw some people huddled around a television. i decided to look on and saw that the pentagon and a tower in the wtc was on fire. horrified i looked on as the second plane flew into the building resulting in a huge massive fireball. i immediately called my mom again and asked her what was going on, and she proceeded to tell me that these airplanes had crashed on these two sites. mortified i tried to make the rest of my day in class but could barely concentrate, as could any of my fellow students. on the national day of remembrance and prayer, my school had a get together where we talked about the occurrence and sang a few patriotic songs. i later wrote a paper of my thoughts and dug deep inside my soul and realized that those kids whose parents died, won't have a dad to play baseball with. they won't have a mom to hold when they don't feel good, or when they get hurt. i looked at my brother and sister, mom, dad and the rest of my family and saw how exceptional they are. i told my entire family how much i loved them until my throat was raw from saying it. now over two months later it has still affected me, living next to an airport and seeing planes fly low is an eerie site to behold. my brother had asked my mother if he goes outside, will a plane come and kill him. holding back tears she replied "no honey...we'll be safe." after september 11th, 2001 everyone in the united states was questioning their safety, our security, our loves. with the 5,000+ people who died in that horrific day, the united states will never be the same, and neither will the people. it makes one ask deep inside "what has the world come too?"
