 Everything Stopped

i was in 9th grade religion class when our principal came over the announcer at around 9:25am. he informed the school of the situation. people's breaths were taken away when they heard the words: "two planes have crashed into the world trade center." almost all, including myself were in total disbelief as we watched the televisions. i saw the towers fall on live television, i saw images of the helpless leaping from the top floors of the building. we were there when news of the pentagon had just broken out. throughout the day, my classmates and i experienced everything through the television. for the first time i can ever remember, i was uncertain as to what would happen next and feared the near future. i fought back tears of shock and horror in my history class as we watched people jump from the windows. there was a terrible knot in my stomach and everyone felt helpless when the towers came down, with thousands to perish inside their walls. this was the day when everything stopped, and the entire world watched.
