i was asleep in my room when my mom came in and told me the pentagon had been attacked and that we no longer had a world trade center. my immediate reaction was to sit up and turn on the radio, where i kept hearing reports that as many as fifty thousand people worked in the wtc and i thought they were saying 50,000 were dead. was i afraid to fly? absolutely not. i wanted to go get on an airplane and show those rag-heads a thing or two. was it sad? of course. was i patriotic? a little more so than usual, but it's a shame it takes something of this magnitude to do the job. was it a tragedy? yes, but then so is a head on collision with a drunken driver. i'm not downplaying the tragedy of 9-11, but what makes the death of people, say, to drunken drivers and such any less tragic than that? i guarantee more people have died in such instances as that than died on 9-11, yet no one really seems to be outraged at this enemy from within. also, why is it only a tragedy when it happens to us but when it happens somewhere else, its because "those people are like that"? please don't misunderstand and think i'm jumping down anyone's throat. i'm including myself when i ask these questions. it just makes one wonder...
