the morning of september 11th was any other morning to me..when a girl i worked with ran into our lounge and told us a plane had crashed into a building..i dont think she knew what the twin towers were..she didnt grow up here and wasnt familiar with the significance. the music shut off and the constant news coverage began...then a second plane hit and everyone didnt know what to think...it was wierd...too wierd...we were still all going about our work..listening and wondering and then i just remember running into our doctor's office telling a few co-workers the pentagon was on fire...we are right next to dc of course and co-workers started to fear for there loved ones...just thinking about htis is making me tear up. we finally got a fuzzy tv to look at...and the girl i was talking about earlier was really shookin up...she grew up in a country with civil war and this took her right back to that time of fear in her life...her family came here to get away from that fear. on our radio there was other reports of car bombs etc..throughout dc..which ended up to be false ...then we heard about the plane in pennsylvania....was this going to stop?...how many people are dead...is new york and dc and the airlines going to be ok? the next few days you couldnt get away from the news if you tried ...not that i wanted to...i wanted to cry for all those people...sob for all those familes sobbing on tv...understand how we could be hated so much....feel the pain and hear their stories....most of all never forget that day...ever.....i went with a friend to a vigil on the steps of the lincoln memorial and just couldnt believe this had happened...and thought of how much pain i was in and i didnt lose a friend or family member....we went to the peace rally to observe history in action...the kids were so involved and the opposers were so patriotic.....life wasnt the same.....i caught myself for a month afterward just noticing every plane i heard.....near dc within the first days all you heard was jets etc...that people may of not heard if farther away....the picture that stands out in my mind about that day is when our president was told...that picture or the video when someone is whispering in his ear it is freaky because you know what he is being told and his expression is so ..i dont even know the word but when you see your president sad or worried you know something monumental has just happened.....and hopefully will never happen again
