i didn't understand.

it was around 9:15 and school had just started. as usual i was not paying any attention to my civics teacher. the whole class started to get off subject about some plane crashing. i sat towards the back so i didn't pay any attention to the conversation. i relized that this conversation took up the whole class bell. but i didn't understand why! through the day a lot of my friends started to go home early. towords the end of the day there would be halfs of classes, missing. i finally got to my last class. our class only had five students at the time so my teacher sat down and said, "i'm not going to lie or pretend i don't know anything." i didn't understand, what was she talking about? then she told us the whole story. i suddenly got so scared for my dad who is in the navy. i was scared for our country. i didn't understand. everything that was planned after school was cancelled and our school was on lock down. i began to panic. as soon as i got off the bus i raced home as fast as i could and turned on the news. all i could do was stand there, my heart racing, my hands covering my mouth.the worst part was actually seeing the planes crashing into the world trade center on the telivision. how could this happen? we are the united states of america. i didn't understand. all night i kept thinking why, why did they have to do this to our country. i never thought in a million years i would witness something like this. then when i heard about the flight 93 and the famous "lets roll" story, i couldn't understand. all i can say is i am saddend by what has happened. but i know that this will pass, america will be stronger, and all will be recodnized. i just didn't understand.
