summer

i woke up and got ready for another summer day, i was planning on going into the city with a friend. xin and i got on the lirr and headed out to flushing, queens to get something to eat. we arrived at a place where xin used to go to school "windsor", we walked by it and went into a bakery. i got some hot tea and he got a pastry to go. it was just a place we liked to go you know. we walked around for a while and then went back to flushing station to get on the train to go to nyc. we decided that we were going to spend a lot of our time in the city that day just looking around and walking manhattan. we shopped for some clothes, because we needed some for school. summer was ending and this was our last time we could go to the city without problems. the day ended, we were in time square. i looked at all the lights and buildings that were around me i loved it, i loved being in the city it was just fun. we went home that night… not knowing it would be the last time we would see the towers, 2 blocks away on west broadway.

9/11

i woke up, just another school day i thought. got ready, ate did a little exercise and then walked over to xins house to get a ride to school, since he had a car. we got to school late like always, the teacher yelled at us. i sat down, and left the classroom 40 mins later just to arrive in another class, where i am told an unbelievable story one of the two wtc towers took a hit by an airplane. at that point our class was one of the first to know in school since our teacher just came in from home. i went to our scheduled assembly and know one knew. i wasn’t sure if i should tell or not, i didn’t. after the assembly we went back to our classrooms and listened to the police and fire fighters radios. i went out to make a call to see if my dad was ok and that he wasn’t in the city. as i passed a teachers lounge and watched a tv display a 110 story-building fall to the ground. i will never forget what i felt and saw that day.
