· where were you when the attack began?
i had been watching msn news for three weeks every morning at 7 until 10. i hadn't been feeling well and had been up and down a lot through the night. i finally fell asleep sometimes earlier on the 11th. i was woken up by the phone it was my girlfriend, who asked if i was watching the news (like normal) i said "no". she said "go turn on the television... planes are crashing into the twin towers..." i leaped out of bed and turned on the t.v. and stayed there for the next 48 hours.
· who did you call first and why?
some hours later around 10:30 i called my friend, lugene at planned parenthood to see if she had heard the latest and see how she was doing with the whole deal.
· what does this mean for the nation?
i was adopted at a small age (2) when i was a child and because of that i am alive today. 28 years later i not only owe my life to my parents but to this great nation that i call home. i think that what i learned at a small age --the nation just got a rushed course in. that even if we are different we are still all the same, people are people, life is special and without warning things are not going to always make sense. what you make out of the surprises & pain is what helps define you as a person. judgement of others will remain and without it we would never understand what it means to truly care and let go of certain fears. it's like this great quote i said and wrote "fear is what you are afraid of getting to know or understand." by sami kachel.
