 light on a dark day

this day of tragedy for us (as a nation) was also a day of celebration for many people who were lucky enough to have had the experience that i had. while many people were going about their usual routine of their every day life, my daughter, breanna was being prepared to come into this world. i had been scheduled to go into the hospital for an "induction".
my husband and i were so nervous about becoming parents, now all of these feelings seem so small compared to those of the thousands of people who will forever be "nervous" at the thoughts and memories of tragedy that this day brought them. we feel grateful and happy at our gift of "life" while at the same time we feel sadden at the fact that this will forever be a day of mourning for many. i wish that my daughter did not have to share a day of disaster with the day that she was born.
i honestly sympathize with the feelings of all those families who have had their lives altered in such means. one can not help but to mourn because in one way or another we were all affected. this is one of those times that no matter where we are in life we will always be able to remember what we were doing at that precise moment when our nation was shattered.
