my school didn't tell us about the wtc attacks until last period--2:20 pm. all of us were flipping out, especially the ones whose parents worked in or near the wtc. my dad works three blocks from the twin towers, and i just burst out into tears in the middle of the assembly. i had no idea what had happened to him or if he was okay or not. i found out later that he had had a meeting that day and was nowhere near the wtc when it happened. i don't think i've ever been as scared in my life as i was when i didn't know where my father was. since september 11th, i think i've stopped taking freedom and life itself for granted so much. all the little things are so insignificant. who's going out with who, who has the latest clothes and stuff, none of that is going to matter later. what's going to matter is how we lived our lives and if we became the best person we could be. i pray daily for all those who lost their lives and all those who knew people who died (i think we all knew someone, whether a relative, friend, or acquaintance, it doesn't matter). i try to live life to the fullest and not put material possessions first in my life. i say "i love you" to my parents every night before i go to bed and kiss them goodbye every morning before school, because you never know what's in store for the next hour, minute, second. my advice would be: always let people know how you feel. good luck, best wishes, and prayers to all the military people in afghanistan, pakistan, etc and to all the firefighters and rescue workers at ground zero. god bless all of you and god bless america.
