i was in shock... where were you?

on 9-11 i woke up like any other morning, but went to bed that night forever changed. i was at work, printing my usual morning reports when i heard about the crash from one of the girls i work with. we all assumed it was just a freak accident and had no idea what we were in store for. i live close to the city (about an hours drive) and i have close relatives who work near the wtc. i panicked when the second plane hit knowing two freak accidents don't just happen like that. i got in touch w/ my cousins who live in the city via e-mail (all the phone lines were tied up) and once i talked to them and made sure they were out of harms way i started crying, and didn't stop for about a month. it just amazes me (still to this day) to see how this country pulled together, united. the terrorists failed at what they were trying to prove. they were trying to break our courage, the symbol of what this country stands for. instead, they did the exact opposite. nothing can break steel under the stars and stripes. this country has proven it's self time and time again... when will they learn?
