my wife woke me up on 09/11 to tell me a plane crashed into the world trade center. i jumped out of bed and turned on cnn. as i was realizing the severity of the catastrophe, the second plane hit the other tower. tears fell from my eyes. the horror was unspeakable. terrorism hitting the united states. this was not a movie, it was actually happening. americans going about their everyday business, brutally attacked senselessly. as i attempted to drive to work on 09/11 i did not talk. i listened to the radio. i heard story after story of my fellow american citizens dying and suffering. as i looked out my car window at downtown seattle, i became terrified. it hit me. those people in new york are just like me. going about their everyday rituals and suddenly their lives changing forever. my life as well has changed forever. no longer do i take things for granted, no longer do i stress about the small things, now i am aware of my surrondings. whenever i think back about the events of 09/11 i do not speak. i just remember. i remember the people, the horror, the heroes. whenever i think about 09/11 i will always remain, speechless.
