Terrorists wake America from long sleep

i was just arriving at work, and saw the wtc burning. like many others, i thought a terrible accident had ocurred. as i watched, my disbelief gave in to horror and anger. i watched the second plane hit the other wtc tower, and slipped from reality into the twilight zone. for several days, as the media bombarded us with the pictures, and the story began to come out, i found calm inside myself. i realized what my grandparents must have felt when pearl harbor was attacked. i quickly realized that as americans, we were at a crossroads. we could give in to fear, and give the terrorists victory, or we could confront our fear and use it to ignite a flame of patriotism and duty in our souls. as the week wore on, i saw america awaken from the stupor of post-cold war peace and prosperity into the modern world as it really is. we have shown resolve, and the controlled passion for justice that our founding fathers would have been proud of. our government has stepped to the plate, and made its aim simple, the eradication of all terrorism from the earth. i am proud of us as americans, and as citizens of the world. the terrorists did not break us, they mollified us. we are a nation united and a nation prepared to win this war by any means necessary. god bless america.
