a little over four years ago i moved from my sleepy south dakota town to new jersey. i quickly learned how to move in the fast paced world of the east coast. i met my fiancee there. he was born and raised in new jersey. he loved going to new york city. i who had not been a big fan of it became rather fond of it b/c of him. i had been to those towers so many times once as a tourist but mostly as someone in a hurry to get off the path (the train under the towers) and onto the streets of new york. 9-11-01 exactly 5 days since my fiancee and i had left new jersey for minnesota. i will never forget that fateful tuesday. it was ten thirty in the am. my fiancee and i were in the car, you see we didn't have cable or any of our stuff from the move yet. so we're in the car on our way to best buy, when the dj on the radio starts talking about how the pentagon had been hit by a plane. we both look at each other and went wow and then he kept saying that there had been earlier attacks on nyc. we looked at each other in disbielf, i mean really we couldn't fathom what our eyes would soon see. then without saying what had been attacked in new york they said a plane had crashed outside of pittsburg and that american airlines was gravely concerned about flight 175 (which crashed into tower 2 i believe). we had just arrived at best buy, so we hurried out of the car and straight back to their tv's to see what was going on. when we got back there they were showing the picture of the pentagon and then they started to talk about new york city and it was then that they showed the plane hitting the tower. we were stunned and then they showed them crumbling to the ground, i will never forget the feeling in my stomach and the drop of my heart. seeing those building tumble to the ground those are sights that will never leave me. i am 24 years old and someday i'm going to have to explain to my children about what happend that day and i am sure that i will cry as much that day as i did on 9-11-01. i hope that for the rest of our lives and i'm talking about all americans, the we never have to feel that kind of devastation again. and i can only pray that our nation will come out stronger. and that we as people will be stronger.
