 cried on the phone

i was cleaning my carpets, not watching tv. my husband was flying that day. he flies 2 times a year, and that was one of them. he called to tell me, "don't worry, i'm fine" i asked him what he meant. he told me to turn on the tv, i did, and i fell to my knees and wept. he was safe, but stranded in an awe-struct, silent airport in memphis. after we hung up, i went back to the tv, and saw the 2nd tower fall. i thought it was a rerun of the first one. when i realized what it was, i cried so hard it hurt. i knew my friend who lived in california hadn't heard the news yet, since she is 4 or 5 hours behind me. i called her, woke her up, and told her what happened. i remember crying on the phone for what seemed like an eternity. stephanie and i will always remember that moment. this was my generation's "kennedy assasination" moment. how i wish we didn't have it.
