when the twin towers were struck that morning, i remember just dancing in my room to music that morning, not knowing that others would never dance again because a cruel and terrible act had been done by terrorists who stole innocent lives. i was sitting in my history classroom in 6th grade and the principal came on the intercom and announced what had happened. at the time, i honestly didn't know what the twin towers were, but i was still somehow scared and worried. our teacher (who happened to be a long-term sub) turned on the radio and we listened to the news reports and were very sad. many kids were crying not just because of the incident but because where i live, i am near one of the largest naval and army bases in the world. and a large percent of kids around here have parents in the millitary. they knew the drill. once they heard that, they knew their parents were going to war pretty soon. it hit this area tougher than other areas would have been because of that.
