 my day 9/11/01

it started like any other day...just the fifth day of my sophomore year. first period was normal. then, my 9:17 history class, my teacher quickly walked in, and said, "guys, i want to put the tv on, because two planes have crashed into the world trade center."

at first i thought they crashed by the bottom. then i saw the images on cnn. i stared in amazement of what was happening. "ok," i thought, "it's really horrible but they'll be able to fix it in a few months, right?" wrong. after watching the news for about a half an hour, the northern tower collapsed. "oh my god...we still have one..." minutes later the pentagon is hit by a plane, and things really are getting crazy. then...down goes tower two. i can't believe what i've just seen. another plane goes down in pennsylvania.

then we get to homeroom, and four to eight other planes were said to be missing but nothing came of it. then after lunch, i was very annoyed because my math and driver's ed teachers continued to teach. (however, after a teacher's suicide on a weekend in may, that monday we did nothing in any class...which annoyed me more)

after school, some friends and i played a little pickup football game to get our minds off everything. for the rest of the night i listened to opie & anthony and ron & fez uninterupped shows where they were talking to people about the day, their stories, and totally breaking the skit/comedy formats. this continued till friday, and monday they tried a semi-normal show. (during one of their shows at 5:30 or so the #7 building fell)

i couldn't do anything for days, maybe a week or so. the last few days have been hard too because all over the place we're seeing those images again.

god bless america.
