 broken heart

i was in my office listening to the morning news when i heard what was happening, i did not know who to call. i was born and raised in nyc and have lots of friends and family there. but all i could think about was who would do such a thing? i could not believe what i was hearing. then i turned on the television in our conference room and called my baby brother (25) whom i know works fairly close to the towers. i could not get a hold of him and then my life felt like it was over for a moment when the second tower was attacked. i could still not reach my brother. then i called my son's school, picked him up so i could go home and try to contact everyone i could back home. it wasn't until 3pm that afternoon that i spoke with my brother and he said he did not go to work because he was feeling ill. thank god! and then for the next few days it was all about finding information on friends that are cops and firemen in nyc... it took a few days and then we found out that a few friends passed away. god bless them! the hardest thing since then is trying to understand how can someone do this, there is no explanation ever. life is very valuable and being born here (puerto rican parents) makes me proud to be an anerican. i would never live anywhere else. our freedom is sacred and what was done on 9-11-01 will never be forgotten. that day changed my life forever, i treasure each moment and hold no grudges because life is too short to be angry! thank you to all of those who are fighting for our freedom and thank you for risking your lives! god has blessed us for having this freedom that everyone else envies!
