 where i was on 9/11

a most ever so typical day started out for me on 9/11. i woke up, got dressed, went to school. approaching my 2nd period class, i had heard the mumbling of other students in the halls that a plane had been flown into a building. i at that time was oblivious as to what was going on, and had not a clue what they were talkign about. i made it to my 2nd period class (about 9:30am), and had heard what really happened. a plane was flown into the world trade center tower....my teacher franticly looked for a tv to borrow from another room, soon our entire class, sat in silence, sat in tears as we watched the horror unfold before our eyes. we watched the 2nd plane crash into the other tower.
at the time of 10:10 i had to depart for my lunch period, getting as much food as i usually did i couldn't eat. all i could do was watch one of the 4 tvs in the cafeteria, and see what was happening. as i was going to lunch the 2nd tower fell down, but as i was eating, around 10:22 am, i looked up to see the other tower crumble and fall to the ground. silence fell in the lunch room and i didnt know what to say, what to think, what to do. i scrambled through my bag looking for my cell phone to call my mom since i wouldnt be seeing her till later in the afternoon.
after getting off the phone i returned to class, as we continued to watch everything unfold on tv. all day, we watched everything unfold, we later realized the pentagon was bombed too and no one knew who did this, and why they did it.
i remember that day, the day the united states realized that we too are not indistructable, we do get scared, we do lean on each other for help, we do fight back, but we do not run away. we are americans, we are the red white and blue. freedom rings from our hills to our valleys. you do not hear fear, you do not hear hiding. you do however hear us rebuliding, moving on, breathing, living, and being free.
i remember that day, like it was yesterday. but it was not. i look to tomorrow, to the sun rising in the east, and setting in the west, knowing that the day after will come, and we will be one step closer to our goal of proving to the world we are united as one.
god bless america.
