during the first week of febuary, 11 high school seniors from my school went down to help out at st. peter's church two blocks from ground zero. that is where the fdny, nypd, and papd can go to eat, sleep, and simply get away from things. it was the most moving week of my life. four of us went down one night and were to return by midnight. we got so engulfed in the conversations we were having with them that we lost track of time and arrived back at 6am. i will never forget some of the things they told me. one man from the papd told us to not look at those working down there as heros. all the men who are working down there still have their family and friends. the real heros are those who lost their lives. when i went there i saw and appriciated it so much more. the work they do there is often forgotten now that it is six months later. but imagine how hard that work really is. i got a speeding ticket in december and for two months i hated policemen. now that i have seen what more they do and their level of commitment i have a whole new respect for them. thanks for your time, feel free to e-mail back ; luckyclover_24@hotmail.com
