 Where was I?

i was sleeping. thank god a friend of ours had come over to our home to do some laundry. she woke me about 10:05 am, in tears. she knocked on my bedroom door, and said "bren.. you need to get up.. they've highjacked a bunch of planes, they've bombed the pentagon, and the world trade centers. i don't know what is going on.. please get up." i got up.. a bit asleep, and trying to digest what my friend had just said to me.

i'm originally from new jersey... southern part. we used to take trips to nyc to see shows, and i've been in the top of the wtc.. the observation deck. i was also a navy wife for a little over 11 years.

i had a zillion thoughts running through my head. i sat glued to my television for the next 3 days straight. only taking enough time off to cook for my children and honey, and sleep. i watched the towers fall... and sobbed.. i will never forget.... as the first tower fell, i saw a firefighter heading toward the camera--he was screaming, and he tore off his helmet, and threw it to the ground.. stomping around... in anger, frustration.... for all his family/coworkers that were killed when that tower fell. i saw his pain on my television, and screamed with him.

i sit here typing this, trying to fight back the tears. know that my heart is with everyone in nyc, as well as pennsylvania, and washington, dc. i called my friends back in va. beach, va.. the naval stations.... and told them i'm praying for them.

my thoughts are also also especially with the crew of the theodore roosevelt... cvn-71... the ship my ex husband was first stationed on.. and the ship on whose bell my daughters' names are engraved upon forever. my ex (but still good friend!) is a plankowner of that ship.. and grand she is.. and i'm proud to be associated with her while she watches over new york.

god bless us all, god bless the united states of america
i can't think of anything else to say.. except that i support president bush in his decision to attack the taliban... wholeheartedly. please.. please.. i'm begging, though... finish it this time.. don't leave parts of it undone, as in desert storm... finish it once and for all.
amen
